Yes, to the point that one can zoom in on individual atoms. Of course they're not all kept in memory at once, it's a function of Level of Detail, and it's also used to simulate chemical reactions. Game physics has come to mean more than it used to, sufficed to say.

Hahaha, saw this coming. Surprisingly good but not worth the wait. The aesthetic is vaguely cartoonish (bright colors, subtle stylization) and still looks fairly good for a handheld title.

For the most part game companies have subdivided into dozens of smaller teams. You buy a subscription from the company and get access to their new games as they come out, at the rate of one every two or three months. Mind you algorythmic content generation tools have gotten good enough that much of the game makes itself; for instance anything taking place on Earth can simply make use of standardized code for generation grass, trees, terrain and so forth. It would make no sense to have a variety of engines or assets anymore, and as such a unified realism assets package (having descended from Renderware as I understand it) emerged a few decades ago. Games look pretty much the same now, providing they aim for realism.

Sort of. There's no such thing as a console as there's no longer any such thing as television. It would be more accurate to say that modern autostereo panels contain two or three different chipsets and that games are tailored to these chipsets. Microsoft is no longer in games, neither is Sony. Nintendo is still producing game software, though for the chipsets that come embedded in display panels.

Sony sticks it out to the end and there will be a PS4, but I wouldn't get too attached to their games department. Still, there is one shocking gem in particular that will define the console and come out in the middle of its last year of life.

Wii has most of the best games by virtue of sheer number of titles. However it's notorious to game nerds as having been the definitive shovelware console.

360 evens out with Wii, having fewer titles overall ut a comparable number of high-scoring gems.

As for which I dig out when I feel like going through the headache of connecting it to my panel? PS3. I'm sort of fetishinstically interested in the underdog.

Posting on solarnet. Same tech that lets us view shit hosted on luna and mars with no delay turned out to let us post across time. There are a few ISPs that offer the service, inserting packets into the older grid through a technology I'm not gonna pretend to understand. Something to do with entanglement, then sending the entangled particle through a tiny black hole and keeping one for yourself. Anyways it's $1097 a month and there are ISP agents who monitor your posting, but for history nerds it's worth it.

Sorry, the typos may be partially my fault but it's pretty well known that entanglement posting is lossy and the message is sometimes incomplete or slightly corrupted. Let me know as I can't see it from my end, the ISP agents post my messages and fetch replies. It's how they censor stuff that we're not allowed to post.

Sort of. Most of the big name titles with high production values are playable only if you can afford a good headset. The cheaper titles for the most part work on either that or a regular panel.

You won't be laughing, trust me. Then again you'll be like 80 by the time the chri-doms work up the guts to put feet in the street so you don't have to worry about it.

    >>Actually, the World turns out ok, right?

Yeah more or less. Most people moved out of the suburbs and now live either in sheltered cities or cohabs built on cheap desert land. Like a giant building that has residential, commercial and educational zones. About half the power comes from wind turbines and solar, rest is from geothermal and nuclear. If you haven't guessed already it's literally too hot to be outside for more than an hour or two without having a heat stroke.

    >>No alien invasions, no martial law, no famine or epidemic?

Civil war, global warming (very little flooding it turns out but get used to the idea of your kids never going outside except on vacations in the north) and the typical economic cycle playing out more or less as expected with a few hiccups, one of which you're on the cusp of as we speak. Don't worry, the sky won't fall, conditions never even approach those of the great depression.

Oh, most of us either don't work or work voluntarily. That's been the biggest change. I guess I take it for granted so it slipped my mind. Ask me about it if you care.

    >>Do you have robot slaves?

Hah, finally someone asked. Sort of but I only own part of them. The deal is that Yum, AOL-Disney-Time Warner and the other corps bought up the companies with the most promising robotics tech once they started producing bots competent enough for menial labor.

Now, most big cohabs have a seperate population of robot laborers a few kilometers away. They work in factories, mines, farms, all on an enclosed compound. Anyone who lives in the cohab owns a share of their output in the form of a monthly stipend. The more shares of the company you own the more your stipend grows (stipends can be used to buy any of the goods sold in the cohab but it's not "real money". You can only buy shares with proper dollars, and for that you need to get a job in management.) Anyway most people are lazy and just live off their stipends. Mine's enough for groceries and rent and such although I do want a job with Yum when I graduate so I can live a little better.

    >>How's mars?

Apple, Microsoft and Dell make decent girlfriends although it's not like you can't tell they aren't human. They're soft, warm and just barely competent enough that guests will give you the benefit of the doubt on 'her' humanity when they're over. Look too closely and you can see the moulding seams and the total lack of peach fuzz though, ruins it.

Yeah, people with no ambition who live on the minimum stipend. There's horomonal treatments you can buy that will let you eat whatever you want and never shift from your ideal BMI but again that costs more money than the minimum stipend provides.

Look the future isn't all that different; There's cooler shit but it's only available if you can afford it. The only earth shattering difference is automated labor and the resulting stipend system, meaning you don't HAVE to work to survive. But most want to do better than just survive so they work. I know my stipend is actually only a fraction of what I make on the job.

There was a scientific case a few decades ago of someone who mechanically grafted enough robotic parts onto his body that he was essentially able to survive without eating.

His organic parts provided energy for his mechanical side and his mechanical side provided the necessary mass for the organic components, or something like that.

It was too expensive to research further. Ethical dilemmas as well.

    >>do humans have an age limit or can we live forever?

Average lifespan is 110 for insiders, outsiders (anyone outside a cohab) have it rougher. As for life extension there are a number of options but the most popular is cold sleep. It's NOT FREEZING. Man why did anyone ever think you could survive that? Alcor got sued out the ass when they were caught dumping the frozen bodies...cold sleep is like hibernation except a frigid saline diluted solution slows cellular metabolism so much that you're barely alive, you require nearly no oxygen or nutrition and you age very very slowly. A ten year sleep costs nearly $100,000 correcting for inflation (might be wrong on the difference, sorry)

    >>are we mixed with computers or machines at all?

I dunno, prosthetics are pretty good. Directly responsive to nervous impulse, you can feel heat cold and subtle pressure through the fingers. The only people who get them are the disabled and fetishists though. There was a guy in the food plaza yesterday with both arms and legs done and when he caught me taking pics he told me his heart and lungs were artificial too. Why anyone would choose that is beyond me.

    >>Since all of the vidya related questions worth asking have been asked, what about them genetics? Any riots broken out over people buying genetically different and superior babies?

Haha what no, is that an issue in 2008? Reprogenetics is pretty much a normal part of medicine now. I know a ton of people got upset about how close it was to eugenics, my grandpa was in college at the time, he actually protested it. He's softened up since then because without reprogenetics I'd probably be dead from heart disease by 30, knowing the genomic history of my family.

    >>Do furfags get to fufill their fantasies?

No. Genetic engineering progresses more slowly than expected. We can do a great deal, just not quite along those lines.

    >>Are we building a space empire?

Sorta. If by space empire you mean government habs on the moon and mars plus a scattering of commercial resorts, mostly owned by Virgin-Bigelow, then yes. Luna is the big resort destination, there are inflatable dome pool decks where if you're skinny you can FLY AROUND using rented plastic wings, icarus style. It's the sort of thing I might be able to afford once in my life, now's not the time. Luna has four cohabs like on Earth that regular people (not tourists or scientists) can live in, Mars has just one. We haven't gona anywhere outside the solar system yet although the current space program project is a nuclear pulse rocket carrying cold sleeping astronauts to Alpha Centauri. We've already sent a probe there via nuclear pulse but it will be 120 years before it gets back. Mostly Virgin-Bigelow just wants to make a point by getting its employees there and back before anyone else.

    >>How are handhelds in the future?

Thin, strong, and the screens are all autostereo. You can look at the graphics from different angles and the view changes like you're looking through a window. That's the biggest difference, although the newest generation of handhelds are basically just built into slimline see-through AR headsets. Oh boy....Okay, google ADS microwave gun. I would link you if I could but you know, fuckin' ISP chridoms/Nazis are like that. Anyways, imagine that any number of different kinds of high energy radio waves can be directed into wide angle beams, like spotlights, having effects such as knocking one unconscious, nausea, temporary blindness....now image mounting these dishes on UAVs and UGVs which autonomously patrol the region. There was even talk of putting one on a satellite but that got shot down (not literally, in congress) due to the space weapons treaty. Sufficed to say it's literally impossible for them to riot, burn down embassies or whatever without suddenly collapsing unconscious and not even seeing it coming. Scary stuff, and despite the paranoid naysayers it has never been used on American citizens. Keeps the region pretty stable although they bitch about how it robs them of their freedoms in UN summits. Cry me a fucking river. If we're expected to pay from our stipends to have new cohabs built in the region, we need to know they'll be safe from terrorists.

    >>Also, how's china doing.

Pretty good. Old guard died out, although the new leadership still pays lip service to communism they're pretty much transparently a capitalist democracy. They were one of the first to invest in the share based ownership of automated labor scheme, so most Chinese live on the resulting stipends. Japan and Korea followed, then the US and Britain, then finally Australia and most of the rest of the world.

UAVs, UGVs, UMVs and satellites. No human serves anymore. Lots of whining from allied nations but they keep buying our robots under the table so they can't be too upset with it, and it has arguably solved the middle eastern conflict thanks to the advances in nonlethal weaponry. HERFs are the favoured weapon loadout on all three platforms, such that few if any actually die from assaults.

Arguably. You'll probably hate it but some of the bigger game history nerds claim it's a classic. I'm ambivalent.

    >>2)Has occult studies (magick, psychokinesis, etc) ever divulged anything interesting?

Not in the sense that any of it's true, no, but neurotheology has really taken off and we understand a great deal about what causes religious experience. Churches even got into the habit of using magnetic resonane headrests to induce visions before the chridom civil war stigmatized judeochristian probably forever.

    >>3)Has the brain become a more useful tool for the individual?

Dunno how to answer this. In what sense? Neuroenhancement drugs are legal, pretty recently in fact. There are limited ways of mental control of computers and appliances, mostly through patches built into headsets. You can turn shit on and off, raise and lower volume, stuff like that.

    >>Do the protestfags win over Scientology?

Some of the history books give them credit but really that's just because they had popular support. Imho the church was going to collapse by itself anyway, although the important thing is that it did and that legislation passed forbidding anyone to use their same exploitation model in the future. It was already been used to shut down Quixtar, Eckankar and Discover. No such organizations exist anymore, although some pedants like to claim the corps are worse. To them I would say "If you hate them so much, leave the cohab". Fewer mouths for them to feed means my stipend grows. =]

The answer is yes, 11 in the main series, one less popular spinoff series and one more popular series that eventually replaces it. Judging by your name I think you'll be delighted by who it stars.

4Chan? In a fucking history book? C'mon, you make some pretty cool sounding predictions for the future, some of which sound plausible but 4Chan is nothing more than a cultural spark in the flare of the internet. 4Chan will never be bought out by a media company, one day some other phenomenon will come about and attract all of us away from here gradually, and 4Chan will fade into obscurity and shut down, never to be remembered again, ever.

Yeah pretty much. No significant changes have ever occurred though, not sufficient that the ISPs offering entanglement posting have been shut down. Maybe they have a way of testing messages for their effects? I dunno. The government isn't really what it used to be so the corps aren't answerable to anyone but their own parent corps.

    >>-Do they make Megaman 10? Is it as good as 9?

Yes and yes, but it's not 8-bit style.

    -How's Lego Universe turn out?

I don't remember, never played it.

-Sonic games - do they continue to suck?

The only good sonic games IMO were the 16 bit styled ones that Sega did trying to capitalize on the popularity of Megaman 9. Nobody told them though, so they went back to 3D shit. There were three arguably great 3D sonics, part of a side series that Sega experimented with when I was in formative ed (maybe 8 or 9?) and I remember them being the best although I haven't played them recently enough to be sure it isn't just nostalgia. There hasn't been a new Sonic game for nearly ten years though.

    >>-Will we see a sequel to Mario Galaxy on the Wii?

Yes, and it's similar in feel but not in space.

    >>-Is Transformers 2 any good? What about 3, et. al.?

Fantastic, and there is a second trilogy 20 years later that are one part franchise reboot and one part reimagining. The second trilogy is heavy on social commentary, mostly naysaying the transition to the autmoated labor economy, and I kinda resent that but it was a product of its time.

    >>-How the fuck was The Avengers movie? And who plays Thor?

I dunno, never watched it. There was a good Nova movie, though. OH and they did one of the aborted Spiderman 2099 series! It was good in the way that only fans could appreciate, although for once the critics agreed.

    >>-Name your favorite movie and director, both from our time, your time, and all time.

Fuck, I don't know. I don't even want to attempt that one.

    >>-Does Blu-Ray last very long, or do we switch to halodiscs soon?

Neither, downloads. There's still physical media now but nobody buys movies on it.

    >>-Since Obama wins, how many assassination attempts?

Only one, and the entire world gets butthurt over it. Guy actually hits him, but Obama survives. Don't expect sunshine and roses though, as a hardline chri-dom is elected as part of the conservative backlash against Obama's administration, and it lays the groundwork for the civil war, if you can call it that.

    >>-Is there another terrorist attack?

Small ones, although they peter out as we start putting UGVs and UAVs with nonlethal weapons into active patrol in the middle east. They're not really relevant anymore, not with the failed chridom revolution still in living memory.

    >>-So what happens with gay marriage?

Uh...gay people get married if they feel like it? Anything determined to be past puberty and capable of desiring human sexual advances is legal to marry, with some stipulations. In practice that really only means partners as young as fifteen (as low as thirteen in some states) and most of the higher animals. The laws are still inconsistent across the states, depends mostly on how many cohabs are in each state and which corp owns them.

    >>-Are toy stores still around?

Online ones. You download the toy and print it out with a desktop fabricator, if you own one. Plastic is pretty expensive these days though, so only the hardcore collectors print in the original materials.

    >>-We got Gundams yet, or is that still a pipe dream?

Haha sadly still a pipe dream. Lots of robots, even limited deployment of exoskeletons, but none any bigger than say a small car.

    >>-Any mental disorders that are left uncurable, or can we fix all that in utero?

Nearly everything. There's a fluke now and then and the news jumps all over it but for the most part we have it pretty good.

    >>-Can we choose baby genders?

Yes, and every other trait. The corps have a set of templates you can choose if you're comfortable with them defining your child's traits; Really though it's only limited change, a collection of the best copyrighted intelligence enhancements, physical enhancements and so on. The kid still has mostly your DNA, you just benefit from the most advanced hacks available without having to pay what they would cost in proper dollars. It's in the corps best interest to have smarter and stronger employees obviously so reprogenetic correction is subidized, barely bites into your stipend.

    Okay, some questions.

    1) Does it become popular for people to swap out bodies completely? Like, if someone has a badly beatne up body, or are a transsexual or something like that, they can have their brain put into another body with moderate ease? Or into a cyborg body, GiTS style? How does the future feel about Ghost in the Shell and other future predictive series, looking back at it?

    2) Do they finally make a Halo game with anti-aliasing?

    >>Also, what type of music is most popular with the current generation, and what's it like?

It's called opera but it's nothing like what it historically meant. It typically involves entirely synthesized instrumentals although you can't tell, it's deep and powerful, and the vocalists have a very wide range. Amette is my favorite personally but they replaced the lead singer with some Irish girl who isn't BAD per se but she brings a very very different sound to the table.

So the Technological Singularity never happened? Are humans still doing scientific research and designing things, or have robots or AI taken part of that?

What was the REAL last Dreamcast game? They keep announcing a new one every few months. There has to be a last one, right?

You recognized the word Gundam, so I assume that anime and giant robots are still around as concepts. How's that working out? Did Nadesico ever get a real ending? Did Amuro really die, or did he just ascend to Godhood?

I don't mean to disappoint, but that isn't really possible just yet. We've got really good responsive prosthetics with sensation and shit but while the stipend system provides pretty well and I appreciate it, it makes it significantly harder for anyone who isn't already wealthy to become so. As such even if someone wanted to go full prosthetic it would be extraordinarily expensive. The furthest I've ever seen anyone go is all four limbs and two organs.

    2) Do they finally make a Halo game with anti-aliasing?
