Man, shit, I have so much to tell you guys. Remember? I asked where to vacation this Summer and I told you I'd report on it.

I'm sending the emd file from my phone right now, I'll post it in sections. If some of it's messed up don't blame me, shit's unreliable and I'm gonna be sending huge blocks of text.

08:19: I'm in the prt on the way to the airport. Getting a few weird looks from the couple sitting opposite me, probably think I'm writing about them. I guess I am actually. She's a lunaran, he's a helene, and I feel a little shitty saying so but Helenic never looks good on men. The whole gold tone skin with the dark pigment around the eyes was intended to accentuate women imo, and it just looks tacky on him. He's a little chubby anyway, how is he affording to fly anywhere when he can't even afford metabs? 10 prop. dollars says he's living outside his means to keep her from losing interest. I'd do the same, she's gorgeous, although I've never seen a lunaran girl that didn't wear the white hair and slender build gracefully. She's got on a body brace under her clothes because of the gravity, she obviously knows I can tell because she's been shifting her dress around to hide the calf braces ever since I got in the PRT. You? Yeah you, you're looking at me. I wish I could tell you that you're lovely, don't worry about the brace. If you're going to the orbital, you won't need to wear it anyway. =] (Wish he weren't here so I could say that to her.)

10:02: I just got checked, my id's going to expire soon because it's embedded in my cell implant, and in the new hab you can't have any implants not produced by Google, they say it's about data security. I didn't even think to check, thank god they let it slide, this trip wouldn't fit into my schedule if I had to postpone it. I'm in the food court atm, next to the apartments. Lot of lunarans here. This is the time of year when many of 'em visit their families. The guy across from me has a body brace that's really old, I could hear the motors making that whiny, grinding noise as he walked past, and it's clunky enough you can see it clearly through his clothes. I didn't say anything, if he can't afford a new brace then his family's probably paying his roto/lift fares. I got myself a bread bowl at Karnes, hot food always gets my body moving in the morning. Ugh, eyes are still crusty too. 40 minutes till the flight, still.

10:50: Woop! I'm boarded, and the girl next to me is one of the lunarans I saw in the food court! She's using the bathroom now so I gotta make this quick, I don't wanna freak her out by writing constantly right next to her. God she has a perfect little ass. I wonder if she's going to the luna hab or one of the orbitals. It'd be too perfect if I somehow wound up on the beach next to her, I'd shit my pants. Wups, I can see her coming back down the isle. The rotodyne's starting up anyway, we'll be taking off soon. I'll do a new entry when we land.

18:40: We landed at the liftport a while ago, now I just have to wait till they clear out the cabin before we can board. The flight was decent but long as fuck, they served "shrimp" stew for some reason (usually they serve something themed to the destination) and that girl went to the sleep deck about halfway through the flight. She took a sleep tab before she left and I kept imagining her conked out, garaunteed for the next hour....Had some naughty thoughts about sneaking down there, but then everyone does, which is why they put in all the cameras. I'm kidding anyway, I never would. God she's cute. I don't see her in the lobby, I wonder where she is.

19:13: FINALLY. Someone got sick on the way down so the boarding was delayed, but I'm in my bunk now. It's like the sleep deck on a rotodyne, except instead of hammocks they're like a sort of reclining foam bed dealie, but they're stacked so they can fit as many people in here as possible. You can pull a shutter down so your own little coffin(lol) has some privacy, and there's a pane right above your face for movies, apps, games, whatever. I brought my nightcore ID but I found out you can only choose from the games built into the unit and you have to pay nearly a proper dollar for every half hour you play. Fuck that. The movies and apps are free though and they have this one that's a fulldetail model of Earth with the lift and it tracks your lift precisely so you know how close you are to the orbital. Oh, good news! That girl is in the bunk below mine. Bad news is that means I can't beat one out or she'll hear me. This is gonna be a long week.

10:23: Could have, and really should have taken a shuttle. I had the money I guess, but I've been overspending recently, etc. etc. It's only one day in and already I'm remembering why I hate lift travel. The flight was long enough, and now I have nearly 40 people around my coughing, laughing at stupid shit and paying no attention to their screaming kids running around the hub hallway not listening to the com telling them to get back in their parents' bunks. I swear to god I will strangle you little fuckers if you don't SHUT UP FUUUUCK. Mantle was on and I watched most of it, fell asleep and when I woke up they were handing out meals. Doesn't even approach the rotodyne food, it's more like something out of a vendor. I understand, you know, space constraints on a lift but if I wanted to eat reheated processed crap I'd have stayed home. The cuisine on Island 8 is supposed to be orgasmic though, they have Alejandro Graciano on full time staff. I'm gonna eat like a king, and that'll be the part I'll remember. I'm gonna put on something calming and try to sleep.

21:40: Slept intermittently. The bunks are heated, it's really nice. I have a pad for my bed at home but this one has little massagers or something because when I was playing with the panel menu I went into stress relief and after dicking around with the options I felt something kneading my shoulders. Not bad, not bad. The nicer rotos have this but I've never been on a lift that did. I wonder if I leave it on overnight, if I'll wake up with some kind of horrible back-muscle disfigurement. :p

09:01: They folded down the observation deck yesterday but I was a sleep so I didn't get to use it yet but I'm going out later today. We're high enough up now that they make you wear a breather, a warmsuit and goggles but you can clearly see the curvature of the earth and I've only been on an observation deck once when I was younger, I couldn't really appreciate it. They're opening it up to us in an hour or two, for now I'm playing around in the panel options. I figured out how to open the porthole shutter....if I had gotten one of the bunks with a porthole. Some shithead invalid kid probably has it, and isn't even enjoying it. I wonder if I could sweet talk someone with a porthole bunk into switching.

11:45: I just came in from the ob. deck. It was refreshing to get under the sky, the cold wind rushing past you, peering over a rail and seeing the whole Earth spread out. Especially after spending nearly two full days between my bunk and the toilet. There's a little ring shaped bar/table around the central shaft with stools, I wind up eating there most of the time since I don't want to make a mess in my bunk. It'd suck if I spilled something since I have a few days left before we reach the lift orbital. It's getting really cold too, my bunk's the only place to stay warm. Some of the better offs have their own warmsuits, they're not too pricy and I even told myself it would be smart to buy one for the trip but as usual I never got around to it.

18:20: Watched a bunch of Backwater eps today, plowed through season 4 and I'm almost caught up. Everyone keeps pressuring me to watch Phenominae but the plot is fan-guided and from what I hear secondhand it's veering towards drama involving favorite gay/inter pairings and they've left the war on Celeste story arc on the back burner which was the only reason I was interested in watching anyway.
    >> July 5th, 2095: Future !GUYX/6jp3w 12/18/08(Thu)22:31 No.24383539
06:33: Woken up early by crying kid, but figured it was a chance to stretch my legs before everyone else got up. Walked around the hub a few times, checked the schedule and confirmed that the ob. deck is closed for the rest of the trip. I may as well just stay in my bunk from now on. Dad used to bore the shit out of me about how lifts used to take a month, and how he had snuck into a freshman's bunk on a hab sponsored class trip to one of the first orbitals, the inflatable ones. Maybe if I spot that girl getting up to eat or something I could strike up a conversation...? But if I fuck it up the rest of thr trip would be really awkward. God listen to me I don't even know her...There'll be plenty of girls in Island 8. Plenty of Lunarans on the beach, naked and gorgeous with the clouds of Earth as a backdrop.....Glad I picked this over the aerium. I mean same experience, but less lunarans, and more budget tourists who can't afford metabs and are probably the last people who should go naked. I've been off my tabs for a few weeks just because I overspent last month but I'm not a big eater, and at the risk of sounding like an ass, I still look pretty beachworthy.

11:26: Eventually I just went back to sleep, I'm still in my bunk. I tried to talk this family of well-offs about switching and predictably they weren't in a charitable mood. There's another Lunaran girl aboard I noticed on the ob. deck the other day and then again this morning, she's not as pretty but she's actually pretty busty which is really rare for lunaran chicks, I'd estimate a high b cup. Oh man, both of them at once in my bunk...What is it about being on vacation that makes me horny all the time, fuck. Thinkin' about those aerium toursts again ought to counteract that.

16:54: I've been checking the map app every five minutes lately. The little indicator is maddening, like watching paint dry. SO CLOSE to the orbital. I've been living in a fantasy world where I'm already in Island 8, everyone else is visibly excited too for whatever they've got planned. They'll only issue you one pair of sleep tabs a day so I can't just spend the rest of the trip conked out but I'm gonna try anyway. Oh, I'm current on Backwater btw and it was a predictable bullshit cliffhanger at the end of the season, Chu and Aaron escape the raider tower by roto, one of the corp. officers that was cutting deals with the raider chief helped them escape but it cut off to the credits just before it showed her face. It's Maria, or that's what everyone in the site lounge/forum is saying.

20:19: Slept all day again yesterday. Had nothing to write about anyhow, except that I DID talk to that girl! I was shaky as fuck but I pulled out the ol' charm and she laughed at pretty much every joke. She seems shy and reserved so I can't be 100% that she's interested but she did add me on her profile and we argued about the Backwater cliffhanger over the bunk panels for like an hour yesterday. She woke me up over panel this morning too, to tell me we were almost at the orbital. Her name is Ciane. Oh and I'm glad I didn't flirt with that other lunaran, I saw her at the commons table with her boyfriend, fucker's well off but easily like half a foot shorter than I am. He looked mixed lunaran/martian, skin was mottled grey, obviously she doesn't mind but it's an ugly combo on anyone imo.

01:40: It's good to finally be out of that cabin. Out of my bunk! Jesus invalid Christ, that was the most agonizing trip I've ever been on. This one chubby helenic girl cornered me, I guess she had wanted to talk to me the entire time. When she saw me talking to Ciane I guess she figured that was her cue. You know who she turned out to be? My formative school classmate, Rona. She said it was a coincidence we ended up on the same cabin but I'm inclined to think that she followed me. If I wind up seeing her butt-ass naked on the beach, I'm going to climb into a warmsuit, hold my breath and throw myself back to earth.

03:08: Boarding is finished and they're prepping to separate from the orbital. It'll take two days to get to Island 8, not that I care, Ciane came up to ME and asked ME to sit together. I feel like I'm off my shit on tabs right now and I'm so giddy I might puke. I feel a little bad because I went on a date with a girl in my new hab already but it hadn't gotten serious yet, and besides, I'm young! It's Summer! I met a lunaran and if I play my cards right I'll be hip deep in her in my Island 8 suite three days from now. Ohshit she's coming back to her seat, I'll add more in a bit

09:12: I meant to add more yesterday but Ciane and I talked basically the rest of the day and I'm 100% that she likes me now, she said she's been to Island 5 before with her brother but that he felt out of place because "lunarans have a hard time building muscle even with tabs", so I'm all "I've actually been off tabs for a few weeks, I hope I don't stand out that much", and she says "liar, you look like your stiped is like 70/30 metatabs to food." and she reaches out and pokes my stomach. I told her in my best comically over-the-top arrogant voice about how the corp that makes metabs just extracts pure sexiness elixir from a tap in my side and then bakes it into tablet form. I knew it wasn't that funny but she acted like it was pretty fucking jokes, and that's when I thought "holy shit she really is hot nuts for me". To everyone who told me to pick Island 8, THANK YOU.

17:00: See, compare shuttle travel to lift travel. I just had a cookie shake desert after lobster bisque and salad medly. I mean, I sucked it all out of foil pouches but it was honestly a better meal than anything I had on the lift. The bisque was fantastic although I found a hard bit in it and it put me off a little, and the shake...I probably shouldn't have had while off metabs but fuck everything I'm on vacation right? Siane asked to share mine since she only wanted a little desert....Her lips were on the straw, and then mine. I had a heart attack pretty much. OH also as it turns out it's "Siane" not "Ciane". When I heard her say it I assumed it was spelled similar to Cyan but she was like "No no, with an 'S'. I rolled my eyes and told her it was trendy bullshit and she laughed...but also punched me in the shoulder. Her hair looks gorgeous btw, white as a cloud. She had it out floating everywhere today while she combed it, some of it got in my face and she apologized but the truth is I'd love to bury my face in it, run my fingers through it. God help me, lunarans are the best.

22:44: My face is still a little red. Uggghh. We were talking about stuff in our lives and I told her about how I had to sell my microlite and get a new thin film panel when I moved into my new hab, and she was like "You don't have to try to impress me you know". I swear that's not what I was trying to do, now she probably thinks I'm a pompous bragging idiot. Maybe I'm just blowing it out of proportion...I just wanna make a good impression, and not fuck this up. I've never been with a lunaran, I don't know what I'm doing. Not that I usually do, anyway.

08:10: I just woke up, we're docking! Also I freaked out for no reason yesterday, she's been really touchy feely and I was on a roll, telling her the hilarious prt story and she was making references to it the rest of the day, eventually one of the stewards pulled herself up to our row and told us to stop laughing so loud or she'd seat one of us elsewhere. I looked around and saw Rona at the back, glaring. Bitch got us in trouble in purpose. I won't dwell on it anyway, I'm too off my shit over how hot Siane is and how for some reason she's latched onto me. I hope it isn't just for this vacation. It'd be selfish to expect anything more, but...I really like her.

12:05: Ahhh sorry! I completely neglected my duties, I know. Island 8 is in. fucking. credible. Everything I heard about it is true except for one thing and I'll get to that later. The minute we got off the shuttle Siane grabs me by the wrist and drags me around like I'm on a leash, she wanted to see every part of Island 8 on the first day before we were even settled into our suites. I'm exhausted. Everything's put away and I'm settled in now but I couldn't say no to her so yeah, I've seen basically everything already, at least in the entrance lobby and beachside plaza. She uh....kissed me. Sort of. She was so excited, all "I can't believe it! We're finally here!!" and she pecks me on the cheek and then runs full tilt towards the beach even though she was still in her normal clothes. I just stood there like an idiot, my overly cautious brain struggling with what it could possibly mean, anything but the obvious of course. I have to stop that shit, Eric always tells me I need to grow a pair and just go into things assuming I know what I'm doing. If I'm wrong and Siane just thinks I'm some kind of...temporary vacation buddy? I'll live. I've been through worse. Maybe it's because I'm on vacation or maybe it's because I've just been kissed in space, the shining Earth hanging overhead, but my heart doing gymnastics right now and I can't fucking calm down.

So the beach isn't like the pictures, but I knew that. It's beautiful obviously but you can tell the sand is fabricated and the curvature of the ground is worse than it appears in photos, which were probably distorted to make it look more level. It's not too bad, but it's no Island 15. There's no discernible horizon or localized weather, like in that one and the other three 'big' orbitals. There are real plants though and they 'framed' the beach in such a way that you can't see any of the border walls where the clear cieling segment meets the 'floor', so it really looks like a sky unless you face away from the water, and back towards the plaza, then you can see the overhead border wall, where the 'sky' ends. Also the cieling isn't perfectly clear, it's temperature cured and it has a thin network of wires that protect it in the event that it's fractured, plus a thin layer of some kinda polymer that protects against micrometeorite impacts. It gives everything outside a barely noticable yellow tint. But I'm nitpicking, it's gorgeous and I spent the first two hours talking with a beautiful girl, on the beach, under a starry sky. I've already gotten my moneys worth, and I'm still so fucking overwhelmed that I don't know how I'm gonna get to sleep tonight.
    >> Future !GUYX/6jp3w 12/18/08(Thu)22:38 No.24383805
22:10: I've had dinner with Siane, It was seafood, as in real seafood, nothing like the attempt at shrimp stew I had on the roto, it was crab legs and oysters. I hate oysters but I love crab legs and I found out something about Siane: She can pack it away. I don't know what she spends on tabs or if maybe it's a lunaran thing but despite being built like a stick, she must've eaten a solid three, four pounds of crab legs. I struggled to keep up, and rememebr I fucking love crab legs. She acted like it was nothing out of the ordinary, and we went straight from the bistro to the outside theatre. I should probably explain how Island 8 is set up: Imagine an orange, where you've cut out a section that is 25% of it, half of a hemisphere. That much of it is transparent. The other half of that hemisphere is the beach, the sand, doesn't need to be transparent. This makes up half of Island 8. The entire sphere rotates around one axis so that you're pressed towards the inner side of the outer shell, so the water, the sand, everything is held against the "floor", and for the most part the illusion of gravity is perfect. You can feel a slight sense of vertigo if you run, because the direction you're being pulled in changes slightly as you're moving, but if you sit absolutely still you can't feel any sense of movement or rotation or anything. It's like being on Earth except for the reduced gravity, you couldn't tell the difference. Anyway the other half of Island 8 is stuff like restaurants, spas, saunas, sports centers, you name it. There's even a movie theatre for some stupid reason as if people who passed their time in the lift bunk watching movie after movie on the way to Island 8 would choose to spend their time in Island 8 watching *more movies*. No thank you. Tomorrow I told Siane we could spend the whole day swimming, and I rented gliders without telling her, I hope that's the sort of thing she's into.

19:06: She noticed my 'diary' today. Saw me writing in it anyhow and I made up a story on the spot, told her I was writing a report for school. Reminded me I'm having my phone taken out when I get back. Straight from the best vacation of my life to minor surgery, wonderful. OH but we went gliding today!! I mean that's hardly the best part. She was naked when I met her on the beach. That was... Yeah. It made my day and I could spend the rest of this entry just writing terribly lewd descriptions but sufficed to say, I inwardly wept tears of joy. She was so happy when I showed her the glider tickets! I had bought them without even knowing where the rental center was but the tickets had a little direction indicator and it flashed instructions, next to a little graphic of a confused cartoon spaceman who Siane teased "was obviously intended" to represent me. :p So a glider is basically a small tank of compressed air at the top of a thin frame you stand on. You hold something like a handlebar above your head which controls a tilting arrangement of downward facing nozzles. The gravity is low enough that you can take right off and fly freely around the beach section using these. I was a bit too adventurous though, I got my altitude low enough that my legs were dipping in the water when one of the staff told me over the com that you were supposed to keep your altitute above ten feet at all times. Wups? Siane just laughed. I told her not to take pleasure in my misfortunes, and she said "But you're adorable when you're embarrassed". I pretended to be indignant but it made me really happy, which I doubt I hid convincingly. Dinner was blackened catfish with garlic potato rolls, and our waitresss looked exactly like Erin Loska.

18:20: I saw Rona today, clothed thank god, heading for the sauna. I bet it smells like bacon now. Siane wanted to go too but I told her we should check out the spa first, and she didn't seem to mind. This was only the second time I've been naked around her and the first time on the beach I kept it down through an act of sheer fucking willpower but that wasn't going to happen today. Today was the best day of my young life. After a few minutes of talking about nightcore (she plays! Luna server though which explains why I've never seen her ingame) she had to get out of the hot tub because lunarans have really sensitive skin and low tolerance for heat. When she stood up to get out it was like a pillar of light shone down upon her in slow motion, the steam rising around her, water streaming down her tall, fragile body. Not a hair anywhere except for her head, and her legs are (at their thickest point) about as big around as my upper arm, and easily four feet long. Being a leg man of course my brain locked up and there's no way she didn't notice that I was just *gawking* at her. So she goes to a massage table but they're full up, an influx of new hellenic tourists made for row after row of gold flab with a few dots of white wherever a lunaran had managed to claim a table. The hellenes were hogging all of the massiuers and I made a snarky comment about it hoping she didn't think me prejudiced, but the stereotype about lunarans and hellenes held true and she not only laughed but threw in a few anecdotes about hellenes being asked to leave the lunarhab for throwing a party that trashed six apartments and a commons.

So I'm still laughing when she casually goes from that straight to "I suppose you could do it, are you any good". I didn't get it straight away but when it dawned on me that she was inviting me to massage her, again, untimely heart attack. Shit's going to kill me before I hit 30. So YES, I spent the best hour of my life doing my best to pretend that I was an expert masseur, only working up the courage to ah, apply...therapeutic...strictly medical...massage to her buttocks area. (fucking died of joy) about halfway in. She didn't even move to get up or say anything, just periodically made happy, sleepy noises while I did my best to kill an erection hard enough they they should build the next lift out of it. I dunno what I was worried about, she made a show of noticing it with a hands-on-cheeks "Oh my goodness~!" scandalized expression, we laughed a bit, but I did notice that her eyes didn't move away until I put my towel on.

Here's how it went down. We were gonna split up after the spa but she held me back and after a few seconds of looking at the ground she quietly asked me if I'd mind if she came over and obviously I answered yes, which was the shortened form of "Thank you Buddha, Yahweh, Ahura, Allah and Ra. Thank you nobles, thank you Earth, thank fuck that I was born, this is god damn glorious." So I'm cleaning up and trying to look nice like a vain faggot in the bathroom mirror and she's choosing a movie to watch, right? I let her pick although it turns out to be a good one (Hortible Rex, some animated app that breaks the fourth wall and has him asking you how to solve shit) and I didn't mean to but the hot spa plus a long day of activities had me feeling sleepy as hell. I was laid back against her, my head resting on her lap/tummy, and I just sort of drifted off to sleep. I woke up when I felt a tickle on my arm and I looked over to see her poking at it. It took me a second to realize what was going on and I panicked. I regret it now but I was a little defensive, I snapped at her, forget exactly what but it doesnt matter now. She had been reading my travel diary off my arm implant while I slept and she had gotten all the way up to the July 16th entry by the time I woke up and stopped her. I moved away but she grabbed my arm, crawled next to me and kissed me.

Just pulled me in and kissed me really deeply, and I stopped worrying for once and went with it. Her nipples were small, grey and tasted faintly sweet. It was a little awkward getting into position because her legs are so long and she's taller than I am in general but we found a good spot and the rest just happened. I couldn't get it all in (lunaran men are proportionally smaller in that area so as to conserve heat) but I'm sure I wasn't hurting her and she surprised me with how aggressive and noisy she was, her face turned flush pink, the sexist thing I've ever seen. That was at 22:50, I've showered up since and I'm gonna go crawl back in with her. I have you guys to thank for this, all of it, best decision I ever made.

08:52: I woke up to Siane making a mushroom omelette. She had actually ordered ingredients delivered and then manually cooked breakfast for us. I hate mushrooms but I said nothing, choking it down with a giant grin on my face. "So you cook, then?" I said. "Oh I love to, I've done it as a hobby for a few years now and I can really-" I cut in with "You know, you don't have to impress me". I put on my best smug grin and she did her pouty face. God, I love her more than anything. I hope I'm not ruining the report for you guys by focusing too much on her, I know you want to know about Island 8 and such but this is really big for me, it's been more than a year since I've had a girlfriend, at least one that I'm so off my shit about. She lives in Sunnyvale and I'm just west of San Mateo, it's not long at all by prt, this could really work out and she seems as excited as I am. I must sound like a huge fag but I'm so happy right now I can barely write this. We're going out in a bubble today so I probably won't have time to type up another entry. It's like a 90% transparent inflatable ball that you and three other people can float around in that LEAVES THE ORBITAL. As in, it's floating in open space. The wait takes hours and you get like 20 minutes total because the bubble loses heat so quickly but it's one of the big deal attractions they advertise....it's also basically the only thing we haven't tried yet and we both leave on the 19th.

01:58: I should be sleeping right now because I have to get packed and ready to go tomorrow. I'm tired as shit, Siane and I were just...yeah. I'm sweaty as fuck and I smell like a zoo. Happy though. I can't begin to tell you how happy. We got there at 10 and there was a helio show going on in the outdoor theater so for once there was actually a really short line. I made my case to the staffer and he let me and Siane go out just the two of us! :D It was only 20 minutes, but it was the best experience of my life, the best thing I've done on Island 8, and...probably the high point of my life. She mini shuttle carried us out a few hundred miles from the orbital and then spent a couple of minutes inflating the sphere. When I crawled through the ring I pancked a little, it was like climbing out of an open airlock into space. The material was slightly foggy because it's some kind of nanofiber laced plastic, strong enough I wasn't worried about a blowout. Siane came in after me, pushed off of the ring with her feet and tackled me midair. We both ran into the opposite wall and her hair draped over my hair, carried by the momentum. In this private white forest, she pressed her glossy little grey lips to mine and for a moment I really was in open space with her, there wasn't any bubble. We were the god and goddess of a new world. Corny, I know, but the way that her long white hair spread out in a gently waving mass around her glowing porcelain face is a beautiful, perfect memory that I will carry with me to the tube.

20:19: Dinner was lovely. She put on an earthtone slip with frills around the bottom that ran up the gown portion in a helix, made to look like ivy. I held her close and told her she was a vision of beauty. She told me I was silly, and that people were staring. They were actually, I even saw that tubby hellene from the prt in the crowd with his own lunaran sweetheart. He nodded at me and smiled as if to say ""They really are the best, aren't they?" I smiled back as the waiter led us to our table. There was a special section for those on their final day, red silk draped over dense wood tables, as in real wood, from trees. Took me a moment to get over it. Then another moment to get over her. They had red candles set up in centerpieces surrounded by roses, as though intended to frame her face, to enhance its loveliness as if it were possible. My ears were red, pretty sure, and I felt conspicuously flustered for the entire evening. Siane picked up on it at least and was predictably tickled. We seriously discussed plans to carry on once back on Earth, and I was relieved to hear that her schedule would permit Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday trips by prt without much of a hassle. I'm off work at the moment, having moved, but when I start up in October I can definitely schedule my workdays around that. It's hard to imagine that any of this has really happened, you know. It's like once I left Earth everything past that has just been a wonderful fantasy that is going to vanish when I step out of the lift cab. It had better not. I would't *want* to return to Earth without Siane. (I'll probably find that last bit a little embrassing later but I'll leave it in. It's how I feel right now and Siane will probably gush about it anyway, knowing her. I'm gonna make a bunch of copies of this file before they take my phone out, and ID protect them this time. I dunno if I want her reading the whole thing just yet?)

I just saw Siane off at the prt terminal. Swept her up, kissed her like I meant it and told her not to forget that this really happened. She told me I was being dramatic, and that there's no way she could forget, not after the bubble. "That's exactly when I decided that I love you", she said. "What, *after* we...?" She gave me a sly grin. The prt folded shut and it sped off into the hillside, carrying the girl I love. I'm in my own prt now, it's quiet except for a barely audible electrical whine and the occasional click of the wheels hitting a track seam. I managed to get one to myself, and I keep thinking back to the couple I saw on my way to the airport. Maybe it wasn't their first time. Maybe they met the same way that Siane and I did, and it was an anniversary trip. Of course I'd be inclined to believe that, I'm off my shit in love. Come to think of it there's still the whole month of August ahead and the Aerium trip is cheap enough that if I went in on it with Siane we could do that too. I couldn't justify it before, but now that I've got someone to go with...=]

The church of the singularity is still around although it waned in popularity after all those tv reports on how weird their beliefs/practices are. They raise money through various means and spend it on replacing as much of their bodies with implants as possible.

There are also fetishists who just do that without any religious motivation at all.

    >>Can you explain the different "races"?

Sure. The helenes were one of the first designed races, mainly aesthetic and athletic changes. They have gold skin, dark pigment all around their eyes and blonde hair. I have seen a few young black or red headed helenes but that's a result of mixing.

    >>Is Earth a shithole now or...?

I wouldn't call it that. The equator is unlivable obviously but the rise in temperatures turned northern tundra into temperate forests, and rendered a lot of Russia and Canada really pleasant for instance. Most Americans live in cohabs though, as the affordable land is all in regions that are hotter than you'd want to deal with. Besides, there are the outsiders to consider as well.

Dubai is in ruins. Most of the construction was terribly cheap and the rising temperatures made it unlivable anyway, so everyone immigrated elsewhere and now all of the magificent (if poorly made) structures are in some state of collapse. I've seen photos, it's depressing, largely considered the titanic-scale folly of our time.

    >>How different is it? What countries have formed/disappeared? New landmasses or bodies of water? I'm a bit of a geography fag.

Not too different. A lot of states/countries/towns remain on the map even though nobody lives there anymore. Southern US is sparsely wooded desert now, and Mexico got fucked hard. Russia is lovely now, most of it is temperate forest, and there was an influx of indian/middle eastern immigrants into newly established Russian habs when tensions got really bad between european and middle eastern immigrants in britain. Japan is all habs now, it's livable in winter but literally lethal outside in the summer. They took to hab living like bees to a hive though no shock there.

    >>Is there a specific point where ballistic weapons were deemed obsolete? Were portable riot-control sort of weapons used instead?

Ballistics are illegal inside habs, but some people do legally own lipc pistols. The military uses ballistics for some shit although battleships use railguns now, not cannons. Tanks are often outfitted with solid state lasers or CMB (coherent microwave beam) weapons and for a brief period before they were outlawed, our military had plane and helicopter mounted "neutron spotlight" weapons, which covered a wide area in high energy neutron radiation, killing anything caught under the invisible "spotlight" instantly.

    >>Also, The mars lava tunnels?

Yeah, there's exactly one Mars hab and most of the really well offs are tired of the moon, so the hot real estate is Mars. It's a bitch to get materials there (we are not to the point of having industrialized Mars as we have the moon) so the current program involves sealing and pressurizing mars tubes. Most will be pretty straightforward hab style interiors but I've seen artists renditions of tubes where the interior is made to seem like a natural forested valley on Earth, with bright film display lining the top, making a convincing artificial sky.

Not that I will ever in a million years have the proper dollars to live in a place like that, obviously.

There are a few habs in south Africa funded and built by the UN, most of the natives live there. Those who wouldn't move into the habs might still be in the woods. The heat would kill them, you'd think, but there have been outsider settlements found in near- equatorial regions before so it's possible I guess. I've actually watched that on the paleofuturism net, and yes, sort of. We have pressure tubes, not for travel but for delivery of small purchases to your apartment within a cohab. We have robots obviously but not ones that look like that. Nearly any implant plays music. There's this little implant smaller than a grain of rice that goes on your jaw or in your inner ear depending on the model that vibrates in such a way that you hear your music, and nobody else does. They typically have minimal onboard storage, they expect you to stream it from some other implant, like the phone implant I've got (for a while longer) in my left forearm.

A song that is say, 5 minutes will typically be around 200 megs. But then recording today is much higher bitrate than you're accustomed to and most new songs are done in synchro, so even if you're just listening in stereo it needs to have all the extra audio data plus a unified version for less powerful players.

Railguns. By 2015 some enter service I think. Tension escalates with China and Russia and gets rapidly worse when the first stipend economies kick in and the resulting influx of cheap high quality goods begins to damage the economies of nations unable to match that standard of productivity. War is averted when the UN oversees a program to provide the first few habs and autolabor compounds to China so that they can begin the conversion to a stipend economy. Russia holds out for a decade or so and then converts only once it is on the brink of a second collapse.

    >>Oh, and how are the communists doing?

There aren't any. There's just one economic system in developed nations now, the stipend economy. It's a slow transition and it was only recently that the last few communist nations in south asia switched over.

Second one, it's called entanglement posting. You subscribe to the service and pay for stretches of a few hours posting time. Electron/photon pairs (depending what time you're posting to) are entangled and one sent through an intermittently opened tiny black hole, such that they are inserted as coherent impulses that form packetized information in whatever networks were common in that time.

Every game has some degree of that to it. Even mainly singleplayer games allow you to do things like invite friends to play as bosses or cooperate to solve puzzles and so on. "MMORPG" is no longer a discrete genre, it's like "RPG" sort of, lots of games have "hints of RPG", similarly nearly every game has hints of MMORPG. Changes made to the past take effect at the same speed that time travels, so they never catch up to my present. We're still censored about certain things, with no explanation as to why.

So basically if something that you future people did to change our past happened, you wouldn't be affected at all, but when we eventually progressed to that point, said change would have had an effect on stuff.

Basically it's the confirmation of that one theory of time travel, like in Back to the Future. Changing an event doesn't change the future, it spawns an alternate timeline at the point of change.

Which ones? Outsiders reportedly live around 30-50 years. Insiders live to 110 sans extension treatments. Well-offs have been known to live past 300, but they're a mess by then. Most opt for cold sleep when they close in on 100.

We have found living microbes on Mars. Once everyone got over the shock, people felt silly about thinking it was a big deal. Probably other microbes on planets with water/ice, but we've only put habs/outposts/resorts on the moon and mars so far.

My bad, you're right, I misspoke. People from the future are no less prone to mistakes you know. What I meant is that with a full set of extension meds/surgeries you can expect to live to 300. That is the life EXPECTANCY for a fully treated person who is born today. 110 is the expectancy for someone who recieves no treatments, but is born today.

Oh, something I thought to ask you while I was at work today.

Granted we know that your money doesn't function like how our money does, but what's the average 'wealth' in ye old 2095? Is everyone still mostly middle-class? Upper-middle-class? Upper-class with the Upper-Upper-class being the extremely richierich?
    >> Anonymous 12/19/08(Fri)01:07 No.24389357
In the dim light of the theatre few could see the face of the man who had stood up and objected so loudly as to shake the walls.

"FAKERS! FRAUDS! PHONIES!" be hellowed, pointing to the actors onstage. "YOU'RE NOT PIRATES, NOR ARE YOU FROM THE CORRECT TIME PERIOD FOR THAT TO EVEN BE POSSIBLE!"

The silence was deafening. Inside the leading actors head, considerations fought one another for a chance to be expressed. The play was free after all and he and the other actors had taken time out of their schedules to be there, to entertain the people. But to stop, to break the suspension of disbelief just because a single halfwit couldn't tolerate a bit of make believe would violate the spirit of theatre, of writing, of fantasy. No, he would not stop to lecture the man.

    The show must go on.

Huge middleclass. No homeless. A small class of those who coast by on the minimum stipend and do nothing to grow it. Sizable upperclass, basically anyone ambitious and industrious enough to run one or more businesses. There's a class above that, management class, anyone who works for the corp that owns the cohab. They get paid in proper dollars, which are worth a great deal more and can be used anywhere, not just in the cohab where they were issued like your stipend funds.

    Uhhh hm let's seee.

    ~Entanglement posting (obviously)
    ~Affordable implants replacing most portables
~Just about every smooth surface is a display of some kind
~Helios can display freestanding 3D images in the air although they are too pricey for most to own
~The few mobile devices we do have commonly contain a few wet parts, wet meaning biological. My old microlite that I got from my dad had a bunch of moth heads embedded in chips under a thin protective plastic layer. They interfaced directly with the computer and kept it balanced more reliably than any accelerometer ever made.
~Swarmbots do most cleaning and repair.
~The stipend economy is a big one. Autolabor produces all goods, we all own a share of their output and that's the foundation of our currencies value.
~Two space elevators have been built, one completed recently, the other older.
    ~Wetbots as companions
~Organic implants are the new thing currently. Small engineered organs for specific purposes.
~Personal Rapid Transit is how we get around. Takes us everywhere inside a hab and between them.
~Games are played on panels and optics. Panels are like 3D window panes, you can see the scene from different perspectives by moving your head around it. Control is by means of gestures and thought.
~We have reliable interplanetary "ferries" so to speak, large scale reusable mission platforms that make travel between worlds safe and affordable.
~We have single stage ground to orbit shuttles that will get you to an orbital resort much faster than a space elevator (lift).
~Most planes have been replaced by rotodynes, a sort of large scale passenger helicopter, and the newest ones use multiple turbofans instead of a central prop.

    Anything else?

The organic implants thing is pretty new, but I was watching some shit the other day about a theoretical application of what we now know about quantum potential and vacuum fluctuation that would let us smooth out the vacuum distortions that make up all matter and energy, effectively blinking objects out of existence without violating the law of conservation. It could be used as a weapon, or for waste disposal I guess.
