What is the meaning of life to you?

As Enlightened /sci/ fag and Atheist I would have to say the meaning of life is to reproduce - it is what we are here for, its are main driving force as a species, and how we can achieve a form of immortality. But theists might find different meanings of it... and theyre just as "entitled" to their opinion as an atheist is.

What say, you, gentlemen and scholars of /Sci/?

Meaning implies intent though, which is inherently subjective. Saying that subjective oppinions on the meaning of life are equally valid does not imply that we don't live in an objective reality though.

I remember having a similar discussion with a drunk art student who claimed there had to be some form of objective definition of what art was. He ended up calling me a fucking postmodernist. Which was amusing in itself, but I'm not saying subjective oppinions on everything are valid. I work based on the assumption that we live in an objective shared universe that we can confirm empirically. There are some things which don't have objective answers, where you can conclude that all subjective answers are equally valid, but that's not a general principle.

Sure I'm glad that theres people out there that want to reach their full potential, thats great, but its not for me. I simply wish to live a happy life where I leave a positive impact on the world, no matter how small, so long as I'm not a drain on society. Although I can't claim to be objective as it's the narrative I was raised with, it does seem to derive neatly from what is known about the universe, our planet, and life upon it. Our biological commonalities serve as such an anchor. We all, with statistically insignificant numbers of outliers, prefer comfort to pain. We prefer having shelter to exposure to the elements. We prefer good health to illness, abundance to scarcity, education to ignorance and so on.
